sarah palin republican resigns from office in Alaska

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced today on July 3rd, 2009 that she will resign from her position as Governor of Alaska on July 26th. The former Republican vice presidential candidate surprised listeners at her press conference, stating her intent to step down but did not address her future plans. Some speculate she may be setting herself up for a future presidential candidacy in 2012. Others speculate that this would be the end of her political career.
